Your Average Day

Ah yes, the micro-bus ... the preferred mode of transportation here in Nepal. This video is a taste of commuting to work!

Here also is my lunch, for sixty rupees (less then one dollar), I ordered ten momo (steamed dumplings, mine vegetarian) served in a dried grape leaf bowl and a Pepsi. Absolutely delicious and I am sure impossible to replicate for you when I get home!

And of course after singing a song about monkeys to one of the toddlers at the orphanage today, she laughed and told me that I am not her didi (term of endearment and respect, literally "big sister") but I am a monkey! Then she laughed harder and kept saying "eat bananas, eat bananas!" in an accent so thick, it took me a few tries to understand what she was saying! All that and changing nappies all day ... a day in the life! Actually, the orphanage is short nappies, so many of the toddlers just go without. I've found the toddlers don't like wearing pants very much anyways and just take them off. Hopefully the nappie situation, at least, is something easy for me to fix.
