Hindu I Do

I was invited to a Hindu wedding today with the other volunteers! What an experience and what an honor! The ceremony lasts for a couple of days with dress changes and lots of food and music. The bride looks sad in her photograph because she is leaving her family. The other photo shows the bride's grandfather, the patriarch of the family, giving the groom his blessing, which takes a long time! This portion of the ceremony translates to "girl give," not unlike a father giving the bride away at our weddings in the U.S.! I have a fantastic video of the street procession of the band, the groom and the other male guests, but unfortunately it takes forever to upload! The marriage was arranged, although the couple already knew each other and consented to the match.
